RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

+ Add To Watchlist

Purvis had a great game Friday, while scoring 19 points (8-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT) with two rebounds and two assists.

Purvis will attempt to pick up the slack offensively left by the departure of former Huskies Shabazz Napier and DeAndre Daniels. He succeeded in that task Friday while coming in second on the team in scoring. He should continue to be a top option for scoring, but is not a reliable source of other fantasy statistics.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis will be suspended for Uconn's season opener against Bryant, Andy Katz of ESPN.com reports.

The suspension is due to the fact that Purvis played in more than one summer league, but should not have an impact on his long term fantasy value this season. Purvis, A former five star recruit, sat out last season after transferring from NC State. He is expected to step into the starting point guard position vacated by Shabazz Napier. While Purvis is not expected to have the 18 points per game that Napier had, he should get nearly 30 minutes per game this year, and could post very useful fantasy stat lines this season. Ryan Boatright will be back from last year's national championship team, and may limit Purvis' production, since Boatright is also a viable offensive option in the Uconn backcourt.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis will transfer away from North Carolina State, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Purvis was expected to be a star for the Wolf Pack, but the roster was loaded and he only averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis led the Wolfpack with 18 points (7-14 FG, 3-6 FT) and brought down six rebounds Tuesday against Wake Forest.

It was the second-highest scoring output of the season for N.C. State's talented freshman, who is averaging 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis notched a career-high 19 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 FT) Saturday in a win over Boston College.

In arguably the freshman's best performance as a member of the Wolfpack, Purvis was on the floor for 35 minutes and shot 3-for-5 from long distance. Purvis is averaging 9.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis was cleared to play with the Wolf Pack in 2012-13, the Fayetteville Observer reports.

Purvis' high school academics had been called into question and investigated by the NCAA. The freshman was not allowed to go with North Carolina State on their exhibition tour of Spain. He should add plenty of backcourt fire power to the Wolf Pack this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Purvis' has yet to be cleared, and won't travel to Spain with the rest of the team, the News & Observer reports.

Reading between the lines here, it sounds like Purvis was enrolled at a "diploma mill" type private school. It's a setback for sure, as he won't be able to capitalize on Lorenzo Brown's injury during the preseason, but I wouldn't let this dampen your opinion on Purvis' 2012-2013 season.
